My Review Of The Oscars 2002
LOTR: FOTR Nominated for 13, Won 4!

Well the Red Carpet was I admit very funny, I missed Ian M
somehow, but saw Ebert's interview with Elijah & Sean.
They were there usual crazy selves, especially Elijah, who
seemed very excited. Sean was also amusing when
someone asked him who was going to win the oscars,
"LOTR, LOTR, LOTR, oh yes, LOTR..."

Well for the first award, I think it was for Makeup.
They showed this great scene of Gimli getting doneup
from when he first arrived at 4:00am to when he was
ready to be filmed in fast motion. I figured we would
win - after all who could beat urk-hai makeup? Still
it was exciting to see MY MOVIE win for once! lol

LOTR also won Cinematography, (try saying that fast!)
I personally don't think we should have go this one,
I mean I love lotr but the cine could have been....well better!
Maybe they gave us this one because they were
embarassed that they chose an inferior movie for "Best Picture"
but were too scared to choose a fantasy one.

Okay, obviously we got the Visual Effects - I mean between
the Balrog and epic cgi battles....we defeated Pearl Harbor!
They had a whole crew of guys up there in suits making
(no offence) pathetic speeches. Oh well they ARE just
effects geeks...and ya gotta love those guys!

So the last award for LOTR for the night was for Best Score!
I was so frightened that we wouldn't win that one, I mean I
kinda felt deep down we wouldn't get Best Picture, but I
REALLY really wanted us to get Best Score, being a music
person myself. I screamed and jumped up and down when
I heard "Howard Shore" and yelled something about
"YAY beat that John Williams!!!" - he looked somewhat
sheepishly disappointed, and with a wry grin directed the
orchaestra to play the lotr music. I wish I had a picture of
the expression on his face when Howard won!

Well the last bits and pieces - what in the world happened
to Enya? Did she have a cold or something? She couldn't
have possibly been THAT nervous. I mean gee, I can sing
it better than that ! I'm still astounded by her performance!

Last but not least, the hilarious "Blobbit" - Whoopi. She
came on wearing hobbit feet and commented on how
disappointed she was that in a threehour movie they
couldn't fit in a black hobbit. Later on she commented
"crazy mathmatition 2, Hobbits 4".

And then I believe for costumes, one of the announcers
dressed up as Gimli and kept complaining about the
costume. It ended with him swinging his ax at the other
announcer. What was hilarious is that he refered to
his costume as being an "elf" - um if Gimli is an elf
than I'm a Hobbit lol! Speaking of which, I love all the
non-geeks trying to be "lotrish" and TOTALLY failing.
"lotr with sprites and fairies...." um HELLO there are
NO SPRITES OR FAIRIES IN LOTR. "crafty wizard..."
Gandalf is not crafty, Saruman is - sheesh get your
Istari straight. Nobody messes up "Beautiful Bordom".

Last but not least, to all those who got to go to the TORN
party *AAAAAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGHHHHHHHHH* !!!!!!!!
